— About me, social media, and how to get in touch
Kia ora, I'm erica.
Im just out here doing life and its working out pretty sweet
My whānau, my partner, my dogs. Travelling (nationally and internationally), the bush, the rivers, the ocean, swimming, diving, camping, tramping, outdoors & majestic scenery. Food, trying foods from other cultures, cooking yum stuff and then eating it! Online shopping. Fresh sheets, sleep ins, a clean whare. Painting, making things, creating & taking photos of stuff to name a few. The best part of my job is all the amazing people I get to meet and the cool places I get to go, I learn so much!
Being tickled, being cold, speeding tickets, when the house is too quiet, rubbish not in the rubbish bins, doing my admin/emails/accounting stuff, explaining myself repeatedly, people with no common sense. The worst part of my job is not having enough time to do it all!
I've got a bachelor of media arts, major in photography for anyone that cares about that sorta stuff and I've been giving this photography game a whirl for the last 7 years. I grew up in Whakatane, it was mean! Then moved up to Hamilton after school to start living in the 'real world' (as the teachers referred to it). I worked in retail jobs while I studied my degree and they carried me through till I was ready to try being a photographer full time. That was hard and unpredictable at times but rewarding too. Now, it still has its many ups and a couple downs but I spend most of my days being involved, learning about and working on kaupapa that I really like. I love the many facets of te ao Māori and I am proud that I am able to capture our stories, our values, our culture from a Māori perspective.
if you feel like you haven't looked at enough of my stuff yet, feel free to check out these galleries, no password required.
